On its website, WWJ-TV Detroit reports eight community colleges in Michigan have received a nearly $25 million grant from the “Department of Labor in order to coordinate training for manufacturing jobs.” Macomb Community College President Jim Jacobs said his college will use “9.6 million dollars of the grant to train students in machining, welding and production operations.” Jacobs also said, “I think we should have both parents and young people reconsider manufacturing as a future growth opportunity.”
