In an op-ed in the Wenatchee (WA) World under the headline, “A Renaissance In Manufacturing,” Don Brunell, president of the Association of Washington Business, wrote that the “skills gap” has started to get more attention even as the problem has grown larger. Brunell wrote the National Association of Manufacturers “reports that more than 82 percent of manufacturing companies report they cannot find people to fill skilled production jobs.” According to Brunell, manufacturers are working with schools and lawmakers to address the skills gap.
