YouWood Career Awareness Website – We Need Your Help!
The YouWood.com website, launched in January 2021 by the Wood Industry Resource Collaborative (WIRC), is off to a successful start! AWFS is a founding partner and lead association in WIRC. Here are some updates on the YouWood website in it’s first quarter:
There have been average 10,000 site visitors per month.
Ongoing campaigns on Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitch, and GI Jobs have yielded consistent site traffic and inquiries about wood industry careers.
A blog page has been added, featuring articles about wood industry careers, targeted to high school students and job seekers.
Additional career profiles have been added to the Explore Careers page
An industry career video library will be coming soon!
Industry professionals – we need your help!
Please consider contributing the following items for the ongoing enhancement of the YouWood website:
- We will be continually adding careers to the Explore Careers page – does your career, or a particular career in your company, need to be added? Please complete this form with details about the career so that we can add it to the page! NOTE: career profiles are aggregated, so your data will be anonymized and combined with others to ensure that it is applicable across the industry.
- Do you have any photos showcasing facilities or people and representing what our industry looks like today? We are looking for “action shots” of people interacting with machinery/tools/equipment or engaged in work skills or tasks, or in modern wood manufacturing environments. If so, please upload images here.
- Do you know of any folks who can be featured in a “spotlight” or article on the YouWood site? These would be recent grads, young employees at your company, and those who have transitioned from other industry careers or are military veterans. If so, please e-mail Adria@awfs.org
- We are developing information to feature industry career PATHWAYS. Is there a common career pathway in your company? For example, what position do entry-level employees start and and how do they progress through the company? What are the different positions/titles at each step? We realize there can be more than one and we want to explore the different options. If you have career pathway/s to share, please e-mail to Adria@AWFS.org
- Do you have any events that are open to students or job seekers and could introduce them to companies or careers in our industry? If so, please submit them using this Form and they will be added to the Events page.
Please keep in mind, the YouWood campaign audiences and messages are:
- High School Teenagers, laying the groundwork that the industry is worth considering after high school.
- Early 20s to mid 30s, people looking for more than a job, but something that pays the bills, and fulfills them professionally.
