Some members of our industry community are experiencing hardship and we wanted to share opportunities to help them if you feel called to do so:
Alicia Mendez is a faithful and active member of SWM (Society of Wood Manufacturing), our Southern California chapter for supporting woodworking education. She and her husband own a woodworking business and they are always at SWM events to support students and schools. Last week, Alicia’s daughter Anakaren and future son-in-law Alex were in a car accident. Anakaren is in the hospital with major injuries, and Alex passed away. Please consider helping with their medical and funeral expenses.
Cadence Joan works at CP Adhesives, an AWFS member company. She has participated in AWFS Public Policy and Education/workforce outreach initatives, including the 2021 DC fly-in and a CueCareer video interview. Cadence’s apartment building caught on fire and her unit is uninhabitable. She and her daughter lost everything and are currently staying in a hotel until they can find a new home. Please consider helping with their expenses.
