In June, Society of Wood Manufacturing (SWM) members and their families returned to the Dogwood Family Campground in the the San Bernardino National Forest for the annual SWM camping trip. The group of nearly two dozen adults, children, and dogs in a mixture of trailers and tents enjoyed activities and meals together during the two night, three day trip.
On Saturday morning, some of the group hiked about two miles of the Dogwood Trail. That evening, SWM Chair Saúl Martín brought leather and helped some campers begin leatherworking projects. The trip included plenty of grilling, campfires, and s’mores.
On Sunday morning, SWM member Kenneth Thomas and his wife Sam treated everyone to homemade pancakes. Ken even brought maple syrup processed by his cousin in New Hampshire for a special treat. The weekend was fun and relaxing for everyone, a quick but peaceful trip away from noisy Southern California life. It allowed the SWM members to connect with one another on a deeper level than is often possible during meetings and busy events…but of course there was some talk about work and brainstorming for future SWM activities and projects.
