The Cost Analyst/Estimator is responsible for developing and submitting product costs and manufacturing proposals based on customer requirements. This role will research and address customer needs to provide accurate proposals. This position works cross functionally with Sales, Engineering and other Supply Chain functions to provide accurate and timely information in order to develop pricing proposals as well as:
  • Reviewing customer RFPs, specifications, designs, and requirements.
  • Creating scope of work and specifications costing.
  • Writing scope of work, exceptions, assumptions, and exclusions sections for proposal documents and RFP responses.
  • Developing and consolidating internal and external cost estimates and quotations into a well-organized total project cost estimate.
  • Presenting proposed approach and potential trade-offs and explaining complex concepts and new technologies to internal customers.
  • Guiding development of realistic and commercially advantageous assumptions in the lack of clear requirements from customers.
  • Assisting in risk identification and evaluation.
  • Developing and defining customer inputs required to increase quote accuracy.
  QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, architecture or related area preferred but not required with equivalent experience.
  • 2+ years of experience creating estimates in a custom manufacturing environment required.
  • Experience in Furniture and/or Retail Fixture manufacturing a plus.
  • An understanding of LEAN manufacturing philosophy and up to date manufacturing techniques to support the preparation of cost estimates which provide a competitive advantage.
  • Ability to read and interrupt documents such as CAD & architectural drawings, blueprints and customers specifications required.
  • Experience developing complex estimating/pricing models and cost management tools required.
  • Strong data analytics skills needed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Highly proficient in Word and Excel.
  • Problem solving, prioritization and time management skills necessary.
  • Experience in documenting policies and procedures is a plus.
  • Experience with cost estimation software is a plus.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish speaking ability a plus.

Qualifications: • Minimum 3-5 years of professional experience in high-end custom wood furniture or other woodworking in a professional capacity (i.e. carpentry/cabinetmaking/commercial or residential millwork) • Mastery of shop equipment, including table saws, routers, sanders, power tools, and hand tools • Proficiency of techniques, skills, and processes involved in woodworking, fabrication and finishing (spray finish experience strongly encouraged) • Strong knowledge in wood, particularly maple and Baltic birch plywood • Works well in a team environment to achieve a common goal • Excellent problem-solving skills with extreme attention to detail • Willingness to jump in at all levels of production, from unpacking raw materials all the way through to packing up finished products for shipping, so a flexible nature is a must! SUMMARY: This position works directly with the Customer Service Manager to ensure that the needs of customers are met through designing and estimating customers’ orders. The Technical Sales Representative (TSR) is directly responsible for maintaining States Drawer Box Specialties' relationship with customers and managing customers’ orders, from design, costing, build of material to delivery, throughout States’ order fulfillment process. The TSR is familiar and competent with the concepts of value-added selling and actively assists area managers in increasing business with existing customers by identifying opportunities for selling additional Drawer Box Specialties (DBS) products and services. The TSR will utilize Cabinet Vision to create project plans for the CNC work centers. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The States Drawer Box Specialties TSR follows corporate policies and procedures and fulfills the following responsibilities: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
  • Work closely with clients to receive designs and program them into the Cabinet Vision software for kitchens, bathrooms, closet creation.
