A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CABINET MAKER
As a woodworking professional in architectural millwork, you play a key role in creating products for our company. You study blueprints or drawings of articles to be constructed and set up the correct woodworking machines to cut and shape parts. Using your fine craftsmanship, you carefully trim the joints using hand tools, planes, chisels, and wood files to ensure they fit snugly. You bring all components together using dowels, screws, clamps, or other devices to form a complete unit. To complete a project, you smooth surfaces with sandpaper and scrapers and install any needed hardware.
In addition, you inspect equipment and tools for wear and tear as well as report their condition to your supervisor. You maintain a high quality of craftsmanship at all times and keep up your productivity and performance levels to remain a reliable member of our team. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNC OPERATOR
As a machine operator, you play a key role in the production of quality parts for our architectural millwork company. You prepare and operate CNC machines to perform a multitude of tasks such as drilling, grinding, and milling. By studying drawings, you are able to identify specifications for finished pieces in order to determine the sequence of operations and setup requirements. To keep our machines running correctly, you translate instructions into computer commands as well as prepare and conduct tests. Your other responsibilities include preparing and loading raw materials, operating controls, simple edits, and keeping track of material tickets for pulled and returned material that you use.
In addition, you always ensure that the equipment and work area are clean and basic preventative maintenance functions are performed when necessary. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CNC PROGRAMMER
As a professional in CNC programming and coding, you play a critical role in writing code for the machines that fuel our architectural millwork company. You utilize software programs to generate electronic data that programs CNC routers for material production. In addition, you create shop drawings for approval, fabrication, and installation. By creating calculations, you help determine where materials should be cut and translate these instructions into a computer automated manufacturing (CAM) program. You check completed programs by running simulations or tests and determine the sequence of operations in the program.
Your responsibilities also include preparing the geometric layout of designs and assisting with contouring complex shapes. By communicating with other departments, you provide needed assistance and maintain the coordination of digitizing equipment. You ensure that shop drawings are always accurate and that the necessary materials needed are in stock. As a Millworker, your role is at the heart of our company. Using your fine craftsmanship, you complete custom projects for our customers. You start each project by thoroughly studying the blueprints and drawings. With care and precision, you set up and operate a variety of woodworking machinery to cut and shape parts from stock to finish. As you assemble components, you carefully trim the joints to ensure a snug fit. You bring all components together using dowels, screws, clamps, or other devices to form a complete unit. Applying the finishing touches, you smooth surfaces with sandpaper and scrapers then install any needed hardware.
In addition to using your unique woodworking talents, you also help ensure smooth and organized operations by keeping track of material tickets for pulled and returned material you use. Summary
Duties
Tour of Duty: 7:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and may change due to operational needs. This is a career ladder position requiring the selectee to perform progressively more complex duties and responsibilities leading to the full performance level. The selectee for this position will:- Perform routine wood crafting tasks, such as selecting, cutting, turning, shaping, joining, bonding, fitting and assembling materials and parts to construct high-grade wooden items, such as cabinetry, furniture and decorative woodwork for offices, conference rooms and public areas.
- Repair wooden items by measuring, cutting, fitting and shaping new or broken parts and replacing marred surfaces with matching wood.
- Assist in the fabrication and/or construction of woodwork items requiring work to close tolerances, exact fit and structural soundness, such as cabinets, tables, book shelves, stand up desks, racks and other items.
- Select, cut, turn, shape, join, bond, fit and assemble wooden materials and parts using the full range of hand and power woodworking tools, machines and techniques.
- Operate hand and powered woodworking machinery, such as a planer, joiner, hand saw, turning lathe, moulder, mortiser, table saw, cut-off saw, boring machine, sander, shaper and drill press.
- Construct, alter, install and maintain, custom shipping or storage containers for items of irregular size, shape or features, such as heavy industrial equipment or delicate instruments.
- Construct items such as decking, shelving, siding or scaffolding. Assemble materials and parts to construct decorative wooden items. Shapes new or broken parts on wooden items and replaces marred surfaces with matching wood.
- Responsible for utilizing a thorough knowledge of and compliance with applicable AOC and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) safety rules and regulations to ensure that work progresses in a safe manner and to initiate or take corrective action on unsafe conditions in managed areas. Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is utilized.

Responsibilities:
- Overseeing the construction and installation of scenic builds, rental and custom booths
- Managing builds, quality control, and delegating tasks amongst a team of carpenters
- Managing and coordinating the integration of Technology, Automation, Lighting and Electronics into builds
- Fabrication and laminating of wall panels, cabinets, showcases, counters, etc.
- Experience building custom trade show exhibits including but not limited to: CNC Experience, Wood Building, Laminating, Crate Building
- Working from drawings to verify dimensions and build with attention to detail and quality
- Maintaining best practices and sound fabrication techniques
- Ensuring proper safety practices are followed, personal protective equipment is worn at all times, and that a clean, safe and efficient work space is maintained.
- Optimizing material efficiency through accurate take-offs and reducing consumption/loss through best inventory usage practices
- Managing workload and physical space to the highest efficiency
Qualifications:
