The US Needs a Skilled Workforce

AWFS and the Wood Industry Support Apprenticeship and Work-Based Learning Opportunities

The wood products manufacturing industry, consisting of thousands of companies ranging from entrepreneurs, small businesses, and family operations to large corporations operating in all fifty states…

Requests your support to expand apprenticeship opportunities and other legislation to strengthen our skilled workforce!

The wood products manufacturing industry is modern, computerized, and technologically advanced. We design, build, and innovate interior environments for residential, commercial, and institutional spaces. Our products – cabinets, millwork, furniture, flooring, stairs, store fixtures and more – touch Americans every single day in home, office, business, school, hospital, and retail spaces. We make life functional, comfortable, and livable!

We have jobs but need applicants. Let’s work together to re-establish the value of careers in manufacturing!

What We Ask of You:

  • Members of the Senate, Vote yes on the National Apprenticeship Act of 2021, which invests more than$3.5 billion over 5 years in expanding opportunities and access to Registered Apprenticeships, youth apprenticeships, and pre-apprenticeships. The proposal would create nearly 1 million new apprenticeship opportunities on top of the current expected growth of the apprenticeship system.
  • Support the Relaunching America’s Workforce Act (RAWA), which authorizes $15 billion in funding over the next three years to help employers keep workers on the job and help displaced or underemployed workers quickly re-enter the workforce as the economy emerges from the pandemic.
  • Join the Congressional Caucuses on Career Technical Education
  • Seize every opportunity to positively portray Career Technical Education and manufacturing careers
  • Reach out to us for more information, resources, and to coordinate a district visit with one of our member companies!
